If you’ve been on any social media this holiday season then I am sure you have seen plenty of those gorgeous flocked Christmas trees! Some are almost completely white, while others look the way evergreens look after a light dusting of snow. I soon found myself on a pinning spree of these flocked beauties! After finding the perfect corner of the house to put another Christmas tree I began my search for the perfect flocked tree.
Well my dreams of snowy goodness in the corner of my kitchen quickly faded when I began to see the price tags. Yes, I had a 50% off coupon at my favorite craft store but I still couldn’t swallow the price tag (ok side note…so I would probably have no problem just swiping the debit card for the perfect flocked Christmas tree…I was moreso trying to avoid any conversations with my husband that had him gasping “you spent how much on a fake tree!?!”). Mission accomplished when I spotted the most adorable flocked Christmas tree at Walmart!
Unfortunately the price was right but it was pretty bare…no twinkling lights, no woodland pine cones. But I was determined! So I purchased 2 boxes of 100 count white lights on white cords at Walmart and headed to our local Hobby Lobby to find the rest.
I was debating spray painting and glittering some pine cones from my yard (which would have made the total for my tree under $35), but for $0.75 a sprig I couldn’t pass up these already flocked pine cones!
The rest was as easy as 1, 2, 3! The tree from Walmart (looks like available for pick up in store only) was so easy to assemble. The base snapped together with no instructions needed. The 3 sections of greens literally fell into place; the branches are on hinges and just need fluffing.
Once assembled I simply wrapped my 2 – 100 foot strands of white lights around them. Since the tree is so white, and the strands were white it all just kind of blended together.
My son was so excited to join in on the fun! We decided to cut off the very fake looking holly leaves on my pine cone bunches. Then we randomly jammed the sprigs onto the tree. Since my tree was going in the corner we only focused the pine cones on the front of the tree. You could easily adjust the price of your project but using more or less…completely up to you!
Total cost of project:
Flocked Christmas Tree: Walmart $30
100 count white lights: Walmart 2 x $2.24 = $4.48
Flock pine cone greenery sprig/spray: Hobby Lobby 7 x $0.75 (was $1.50 but 50% off!) = $5.25
Total $39.73!
Not too bad for an adorable flocked Christmas tree. And the only flack I got from my hubby was “seriously? Another Christmas tree?” 😉
With Love, Jennifer
